Structure & Foundation

According to the New York State Standards of Practice (SOP), a home inspection is a non-invasive, visual examination of the readily accessible areas of a residential property. At EZ Inspection Services, we adhere strictly to these state mandates to ensure you receive a comprehensive evaluation of the home’s major systems and components as they exist on the day of the inspection.

We examine the foundation, floor structure, wall structure, ceiling structure, and roof structure to identify any visible deterioration or damage.

This includes the siding/wall coverings, flashing, trim, all exterior doors, and attached decks, balconies, stoops, and porches. We also assess the vegetation and grading immediately adjacent to the foundation for drainage issues.

We report on roofing materials, roof drainage systems (gutters/downspouts), flashing, skylights, and chimneys.

A review of the interior water supply and distribution systems, including fixtures, faucets, drain/waste/vent systems, and water heating equipment.

We inspect the service drop, service entrance conductors, main disconnects, grounding, and a representative number of lighting fixtures, switches, and receptacles.

We operate and describe the permanently installed heating and central air conditioning systems using normal operating controls (thermostats).

We check the condition of walls, ceilings, floors, steps, stairways, and railings, as well as the operation of garage doors and safety sensors.

We observe insulation and vapor retarders in unfinished spaces (like attics) and report on the ventilation of attic and foundation areas.
